On Thursday, Trey Wallace of FOX Sports Knoxville reported that multiple sources disclosed to him that Tennessee redshirt senior wide receiver Jauan Jennings suffered a knee injury during an offseason workout.

Jennings will undergo surgery and is expected to be ready to return during fall camp in August.

On Thursday morning’s edition of 3&OUT with Nate Hodges and Houston Kress, Wallace further evaluated what his sources have told him regarding Jennings’ injury.

“Jauan Jennings suffered a knee injury during a workout in the last two days, has had an MRI, they’re going to do surgery,” Wallace reported.

“Once they get in, they will determine if it’s any worse than what I am hearing, but I have been told that he will be back by fall camp,” he added.

Wallace did report that there will have to be precautions taken with Jennings’ surgery, however.

“It’s not your run-of-the-mill just going in there and scoping the knee type of thing, he’s actually done a little damage to the knee,” he said.

Wallace reported that if Jennings is not ready to return to the field during fall camp, he should be back to action by the Vols’ season-opener against Georgia State on Aug. 31.

“The timeline is tough,” Wallace said. “He didn’t blow an ACL or an MCL but it is a significant injury.”

Since arriving to Tennessee in 2015, Jennings has had his share of health-related issues. Most notably in 2017, he received a medical redshirt after missing the last 11 games of the season due to a major wrist injury suffered in the season-opener against Georgia Tech. The Murfreesboro native also had his knee scoped in January.

Jennings has been a consistent contributor for the Vols since making the transition from high school quarterback to wideout his freshman season. His career stats are 87 receptions for 1,184 yards and 10 touchdowns in 37 games played.

And, of course, he has long been a fan-favorite due to these plays which need no context he pulled off in back-to-back weeks in 2016:
