Vols Reel in Another Pass Rusher in Linebacker Jordan Allen

It has been clear in Jeremy Pruitt’s short time at Tennessee that he is intent on beefing up the Vols’ pass rush, which finished the season ranked next to last in the SEC in sacks. Another step towards that goal was taken on Wednesday, as former TCU commit Jordan Allen signed as a future linebacker for Tennessee.

The Fairfield, California native is ranked the No. 2 junior college weakside defensive end by 247Sports, coming to Knoxville from City College of San Francisco. Allen redshirted his first year of college at UC Davis before transferring, leading to 27 tackles and 4.5 sacks last season in San Francisco. Pruitt and company offered Allen last week and had him on campus for his official visit this past weekend.

Standing at 6 feet 4 inches and weight at 230 pounds, Allen is a speedy pass-rusher with elite eye discipline and the natural ability to blow up plays in the backfield, a natural skill set for a linebacker. Pruitt’s focus on players from the junior college ranks shows he wants guys who can contribute immediately, and Allen should be able to do so — with three more years of eligibility remaining.

Four of Tennessee’s 13 December signees are passrushers, and you can expect Pruitt to target a few more by February.
