This is good news for both the Tennessee football and baseball programs. Three-star safety Trevon Flowers signed his letter of intent Wednesday during a school signing ceremony, solidifying his career as a Volunteer. Flowers, a Tucker, Georgia native, was a former Kentucky baseball commit before his release. He does, however, plan to continue to play both in college. Along with being a safety, Flowers also plays middle infield. Tennessee won the recruiting battle over Clemson and Kentucky.

247Sports.com lists Trevon Flowers the 6’1″, 185 lbs as the No. 708 overall prospect and the No. 59 safety in the nation. The only stats available on Flowers are his baseball stats, but his highlight film is enough to notice what he can do.

It’s immediately noticeable that Flowers has blazing closing speed on the ball. Flowers also seems to be comfortable in man coverage, a rarity for a safety. He seems to play well within himself, too. Flowers plays smarts and knows his strengths. His highlight film makes him out to be a ball-hawking safety that can read the receivers routes well. Trevon Flowers will be a nice project, but with the potential lack of depth in the secondary, there’s a chance that he might have to step up early.
