Richard Sherman Looks To Be Headed Out Of Seattle, In A Weird Way

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported earlier Wednesday afternoon that Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman has been telling his teammates goodbye after seven seasons with Seattle.

This comes as a surprise to some and not a surprise to others. Sherman was beloved by the Seattle area and the organization, but has been the center of some alleged behind-the-scenes skirmishes with teammates. Those who tout Sherman being behind the alleged incidents also say they’ve hurt the team’s chemistry.

Sherman’s teammates Jeremy Lane and Kam Chancellor have both since taken to social media to thank their teammate for his leadership and love for his team.

Things get weirder when ESPN’s Josina Anderson said Sherman had no idea what Lane was talking about.

Maybe it’s a bad coincidence or prank with one teammate, but two?

If a teammate knows, it’s even more weird that Sherman and the Seahawks haven’t leaked any information about a split, though. Maybe Sherman just expects the end is near, especially with the below phone meeting planned.

While nothing is official there yet, that isn’t the only Seattle player making headlines today:

So it seeeeems as though the Seahawks might be cleaning up the roster a bit. The Bennett-to-Philly move certainly doesn’t make Sherman’s future in the Emerald City good right now.

If the move does come, he shouldn’t have a hard time finding a home. Sherman is just 29 years old and is still one of the best corners in the game — he has an annual base salary of $11 million a year, but I’m sure he can find a suitor that would pay top dollar for his skills.
