Preds Make History, Win Multiple Regular Season Championships

Preds Make History, Win Multiple Regular Season Championships
Treigh Patterson

The Stanley Cup Playoffs have not started yet, but the Nashville Predators are already winning championships. Yes, you heard that right. Yesterday, the Nashville Predators made history by clinching three separate regular season championships. After defeating the Washington Capitals last night, the victory clinched the Central Division and Western Conference Championships for Nashville.

Then, the Predators got some assistance about half an hour later. The Florida Panthers triumphed over the Boston Bruins, thus clinching the Presidents’ Trophy for the Preds.

In their 20th season of being in the NHL, the Preds continue to make history. This is the first time in the history of the franchise the Nashville Predators have won a regular season championship in any fashion. So, they figured why not go ahead and win all three on their first go-around? On top of that they have set new franchise records with 52 regular season wins and 115 points.

Obviously, the only championship that truly matters is winning the Stanley Cup Finals. However, with the Presidents’ Trophy now secured, the Preds have ensured that the road for the Stanley Cup, travels through Nashville. Regardless of what happens, Nashville will be able to hang a couple more banners in the rafters of Bridgestone Arena. Once again, the only banner that really matters is a “Stanley Cup Finals Champions” banner, and the Preds are in prime position to hang one up. It will be a tough journey, but it is one this team is familiar with.

The Nashville Predators have one more regular season game remaining. They will host the Columbus Blue Jackets tomorrow night for fan appreciation night. Then it will be time for the real fun to start. The Stanley Cup Playoffs are set to begin on Wednesday, April 11. A full schedule has not been released yet, but the Preds will face either the Avalanche or the Blues in the first round.

Make sure to grab your popcorn folks, it’s going to be a wild postseason.
