Despite missing the final five games of the regular season due to injury, Vol guard Kevin Punter was given All-SEC second team honors. Punter was the heart and soul of UT’s squad this season. He averaged 22.2 points per game, making him the second-leading scorer in the SEC behind Ole Miss’ Stefan Moody. He also managed added 3.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per contest in the 2015-16 season. According to Tennessee, the last time a player averaged more than 20 points per game and didn’t make the All-SEC first team, was 1956. Punter was scheduled to have surgery on Tuesday to repair a stress fracture in his foot. The Vols take on Auburn Wednesday night at 8:00 p.m. ET in the first game of the SEC basketball tournament. The game will be aired on the SEC Network.
