Listen to Chris Lofton’s entire conversation on Talk Sports with Jon and Boomer here.
Kevin Durant recently won NBA Finals MVP. He scored more than 30 points per Finals game and cemented his spot as second player best in the league.
But more than a decade ago Durant played on the floor at Thompson-Boling Arena, a member of Rick Barnes’ Texas team.
Chism left side Lofton… Wants a pick… Lofton gets the pick, Durant switches out on him… He fires over the top of him out front… GOOD! LOFTON OVER DURANT TENNESSEE LEADS IT 88 to 87!
That moment, like several others, brought to you by Chris Lofton.
Chris will be in Knoxville Monday through Wednesday hosting the Chris Lofton Skills Camp at Knoxville Christian School. Campers and groups ages 6-16 are welcome to register on site.
He joined Talk Sports with Jon Reed and Boomer Dangel earlier this week to discuss his biggest career shots. One stood out even taller than the three pointer over Durant.
“Everybody always talks about that shot over Durant,” Lofton said. “But I gotta take the shot versus Winthrop. It was the NCAA Tournament. It meant more.
“It just makes the shot better because it’s against Kevin Durant. The shot versus Winthrop the NCAA was on the line. March Madness you know!”
Lofton just finished his season with Neptunas in Lithuania where he scored 11 points per game. The SEC’s all-time best three point shooter still pulls with confidence.
Jon and Boomer asked to challenge Lofton to a three-point contest after the camp’s first day. The rules are simple: Jon and Boomer’s total must be better than Lofton’s. When asked his chances to win, Lofton said, “I’m positive. Positive.”
Monday afternoon Dangel (at 5’4”) and Reed will have sixty seconds to best the SEC three-point king. Lofton made 431 college threes. He holds the conference record by 64 made threes.
