Bullpen Pitchers Get Their Uber Back

Bullpen Pitchers Get Their Uber Back

After a 22-year hiatus, possibly one of baseball’s best inventions is coming back to the sport. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the bullpen car is making its first appearance back on the big stage.

After Darren Rovell broke the news, the Arizona Diamondbacks confirmed they were bringing back the bullpen cart. For those under 27 who have no idea what a bullpen cart is, it’s as simple as it sounds (and looks). The cars transport relief pitchers from the bullpen to the mound during pitching changes.

Check out Mr. Met and his ride in this video from 2015.

As you can tell, this is by far the greatest (re)addition to America’s pastime since the game was invented. Bringing out pitchers in the cart not only saves time for the games, but it even gives us a chance to laugh at how goofy the carts look. I mean look at how fun it’s going to be to see a 6-plus-foot-tall guy work his way in, over and out of this thing.

Between saving a couple minutes of game time to giving kids and adults a good laugh at the sheer goofiness of it, the Diamondbacks might start a chain reaction that eventually trickles back to every baseball stadium.

I MEAN, LOOK AT THIS. THIS IS A FREAKING BOAT. ON THE INFIELD. BRING ME BACK MORE BULLPEN CART CREATIVITY.

Good for you, Arizona. Less boring baseball changes like this are always a plus.
