Admiral Schofield earned his second straight co-SEC Player of the Week award today when the league announced that he and Florida guard Jalen Hudson would split the honors.

Schofield’s stellar play down the stretch propelled the Vols towards a share of the conference title. In the early-week blowout win at Mississippi State, the junior forward poured in a team-high 24 points in 33 minutes and added seven rebounds. In Saturday’s clincher against Georgia, Schofield again led the team with 23 points, including some pivotal buckets down the stretch. He also managed this highlight-worthy steal and slam that brought Tennessee within one early in the second half:

Last week’s games were Schofield’s second and third straight with over 20 points, bringing him to five on the season. More importantly, his scoring was enough to spur the Vols to a share of the regular-season conference title and the No. 2 seed in the SEC tournament. It should also earn him consideration for a spot on one of the all-conference teams, a deserving honor for a player that’s helped lead the team despite adjusting to a new position. Schofield leads the team in rebounds and is second in both points and steals per game.

Schofield and Tennessee (23-7, 13-5 SEC) are now entering the conference tournament on a four-game win streak. The Vols should be comfortably in the NCAA Tournament regardless of their performance in St. Louis, but a strong showing could increase their chances at a higher seed and a more favorable draw. Conference tournament play kicks off Wednesday, with Tennessee playing the winner of Mississippi State and LSU on Friday night.
